Name Meaning: Hyuuga=Towards the sun, Neji=Screw
Character Study: Cold and analytical, Neji was initially introduced as of the barriers Naruto had to face to gain acceptance in the village. Neji was on bad terms with his clan but changed his outlook on life after fighting Naruto, becoming one of many fundamentally changed by interacting with him. His bloodline and natural skill helped him become one of the few Genin to eventually reach Jounin.

Neji also bears a curse sealing mark, which all branch family members of the Hyuuga house have. This mark allows the Hyuuga main house to control the branch family, when activated the seal causes pain and kills the bearer of the mark by destroying their brain. At the same time, the Byakugan bloodline is also removed from their bodies, which helps keep the family’s bloodline secrets safe.

 Neji’s father, Hizashi, was a twin brother to the heir of the main house, Hiashi. However, the clan stated that since Hizashi was born later than his older brother, he would be placed in the branch family. He and those in the branch family would serve only to protect the main family.

 At the same time, Kumo and Konoha were also at the end of a long war. The two sides were ready to sign a peace treaty between them. However, on the night of the peace treaty, Kumo’s best ninja tried to kidnap Hyuuga Hinata, but was caught and killed by her father Hiashi. The implications of his death would have started another war, unless Kumo was given the body of the one who killed their ninja. The attempted kidnapping of Hinata was overlooked in all of this as the Kumo demanded recompense. Only the body of Hiashi would decided pacify them.

     The elders of the Hyuuga clan did not want to give up the head of the house. It was decided that his twin brother, Hizashi, was to be killed instead. Due to this event, Neji became cynical and began to resent the Hyuuga clan’s system, and that the branch house would always be sacrificing their lives for the main house. This outlook would later be changed after Neji received word of the truth from his uncle.

However, before discovering the true events and the whole story of his father’s death, Neji’s anger had followed him as he grew in life. Neji eventually entered the Ninja Academy and graduated at age 12. He was then placed on a team with Lee and TenTen under Maito Gai. Over the following year they would take on several missions and Gai would offer his Taijutsu secrets to his students. Only Lee took him up on his offer though. A year after graduating Gai entered his team into the Chuunin Exam. By this point the three Genin worked well together and were eager to prove their skills against the rest of the competition. Before the opening test he would be introduced to Sasuke. Sasuke, was like himself a prodigy of a powerful Konoha bloodline, and he was eager to test his abilities.

Neji and his team would breeze past the opening test of the Exam and then enter the second test. During this time Lee split off from the group and came to the aid of Sakura and her teammates. Neji and TenTen would go in search for him. When they found an injured Lee being harassed by the Sound Genin, Neji dissuaded them from going further. Before he could say more though he witnessed the newly curse sealed Sasuke rise and defeat them. He would note Sasuke’s new ominous chakra and successfully finish out the test with his team.

In the third round prelims Neji would face his cousin Hinata in a match to decide who moved on in the exams. Neji would use the Juuken style to easily parry Hinata’s own Juuken strikes. This “soft fist” damaged the internal organs and cut off the chakra pathways of their target. While both exchanged strikes, only Neji’s proved effective. Neji expressed his contempt for the main house, due to their declaring the branch house members inferior. He declared that Hinata’s own inferiority was destined and that a loser would always be such, angering Naruto greatly. Hinata was knocked down multiple times, but each time, thanks to Naruto’s encouragement she got back up. Neji grew frustrated and charged to finish her. If not for the Jounin in attendance stopping him, he would have killed Hinata in the fight. This battle and Neji’s attitude towards his cousin would draw the fury of Naruto who promised to defeat Neji for his attitude on “dropouts”.

Naruto and Neji were then chosen to face off in the next round of the Chuunin exams. In this battle, Neji would use a wide array of Hyuuga main house techniques, surprising his uncle Hiashi. Neji and Naruto would engage in an intense battle, and the two would verbally spar about Neji’s past, revealing the Hyuuga family’s dissention. After Neji uses his Juuken style to close Naruto’s chakra holes, Naruto then released his Kyuubi chakra allowing him to continue in the fight. Neji however held an upper hand by using his Hakke Rokujuuyonshou to ward off many of Naruto’s attacks.

Over the following years Neji would continue to develop his skills. He and his teammates would eventually pass the Chuunin Exam. Neji himself would also be promoted to Jounin. Neji became more streamlined with the Hyuuga look during this period; donning robes instead of his usual jacket. He would also appear to better accept the Hyuuga “destiny,” and found inner peace. He returned to his team with Lee, Ten-ten, and Gai, and assist Sakura, Naruto and Kakashi when they tried to save Gaara from the Akatsuki. The team rushed to aid Gaara and was stopped by Hoshigaki Kisame, or rather, Kisame in a host sacrificial body. Though Neji, Lee and TenTen were captured, Gai would defeat the fake Kisame.

     When they eventually located Akatsuki’s cave base, they found it sealed off. Neji located the seals with his Byakugan and told his team where they were so they could remove them. When they removed the seals, the team saw a clone of themselves rise from the earth to combat them. The clones were soon defeated and the team left in pursuit of the fleeing Deidara. When they caught up to the Akatsuki member, they prevented his escape from Naruto’s wrath. Deidara, really an explosive clone, moved to kill himself and Neji quickly realized that Deidara was about to explode. He yelled for everyone to flee but Kakashi was able to remove the clone before it caused a catastrophic explosion. Soon thereafter Neji and his team returned to Konoha

Like other members of secretive ANBU Root, the young man known as “Sai” was an orphan who was taken in and molded to Root’s ideals. That of a emotionless, highly trained killing machine. Early in his life he befriended another Root orphan and the two grew close. Sai eventually thought of him as a brother. Sai was a gifted painter and had an art book which featured his growth as a ninja in one half, and his brother in the other. In the following years Sai’s brother died due to an illness, and Sai finished shutting himself off emotionally from the world. During this period he was tasked with many highly ranked missions. These included taking out foreign ninja who posed a problem to Konoha. Danzou was greatly impressed by the young man’s skills and remarked he was the strongest of his generation.

Eventually Sai was set to be placed on a squad with Naruto by Danzou. Danzou tasked Sai with a secret mission, to align himself with Orochimaru to smooth the takeover of Konoha by the Sannin. The squad’s formal goal was to travel to Hidden Grass to meet Sasori’s spy which operated in Orochimaru’s camp. Before they left Sai sought to test Naruto by using his Choujuu Giga technique. This technique allowed his ink to come to life and form imitations of the creatures painted.

Naruto moved in close to confront him but Sai mocked Naruto, asking if he even had a penis. This was a joke which he often lobed towards his brother years before. Sai then fled and officially joined the team. Sai met Naruto and Sakura and let them know they were now teammates. He told them he was just testing Naruto and was not impressed. Sai then took the opportunity to comment on how he didn’t care for Sakura’s looks after she suggested he should be nicer to people. Sakura flew into a rage marking the start of ill feelings between the three.

The new Team Kakashi, under the leadership of ANBU member Yamato, started out for the Grass Country. While on their way Naruto eyed Sai with anger, feeling that Sai was similar to Sasuke but a poor replacement. When he made those feelings known, Sai stated that was fine, as he didn’t actually have negative feelings about Naruto. Further adding that he didn’t want to be compared to a traitor like Sasuke anyway. Naruto was furious but Sakura held him back. While she smiled to explain their feelings she suddenly slugged Sai, stating he should not add his ill-advised commentary on events he knew little about. Sai offered his surprise that her fake smile had so easily deceived him. He smiled in turn and stated how he once read that smiles, even fake ones, can disarm those around them and help them get out of trouble. Yamato threatened his team with imprisonment to force them to work out their problems. They relented and chose to rest a nearby hotsprings resort.

When Orochimaru and Naruto finished their battle, Sai revealed he wanted to join Orochimaru, providing him with the identities of Konoha’s ANBU as proof. He returned with the group to their compound and received additional instructions from his superior Danzou. Danzou planned for Sai to join Orochimaru and spy on him and then assassinate Sasuke, to terminate Orochimaru’s next vessel. Team 7 caught up with Sai and demanded to know what he planned. Naruto explained how he would never give up on Sasuke and retrieve him. Sai was surprised by the words and saw a bit of his brother in Naruto. He decided to help them rather than kill Sasuke. They began to search the compound and he found Sasuke first. Sai told Sasuke he planned to save him but Sasuke would have nothing of it, eventually fleeing with Orochimaru. Sai had managed to regain his team’s confidence though and become a respected comrade.

Sai continued on missions with Team 7 and began to express himself with emotions, much to Danzou’s ire. Sai would hang out with Naruto and Sakura and begin to interact with their friends. During one such meeting, Sai chose to avoid revealing his true feelings to Ino. Based on his dealings with Sakura, Sai thought he should try the reverse approach with women. Instead of being honest he would say the opposite of his true feelings to avoid their wrath. Calling Ino beautiful, Sai had made her blush but at the same time he infuriated the “ugly” Sakura. When Team Ten lost their Jounin leader Sarutobi Asuma, Team 7 was dispatched to assist them track down the Akatsuki responsible for Asuma’s death. Sai and Sakura left with Pakkun to assist Shikamaru. They arrived and saw Shikamaru had already taken care of Hidan on his own, causing Sai to reevaluate Shikamaru’s abilities. Some time later Sai left with Team 7 again to help track Sasuke again, who was on the hunt for his brother Itachi.

The young Uchiha Itachi was a skilled prodigy of Leaf Village. He graduated the Ninja Academy at age 7 and passed the Chuunin Exam at age 10. By age 13 Itachi had become a captain in the special ANBU squad. During his youth Itachi looked out for his younger brother Sasuke and encouraged him to train and grow. Sasuke looked up to Itachi and saw his brother grow distant over time. During this time Itachi had come under the tutelage of Uchiha Madara, a legendary Uchiha clan member. Madara and his brother were the first to attain the Mangekyou Sharingan. Itachi learned that to obtain Mangekyou, clan members would kill their best friends. Because Mangekyou usage leads to blindness, to avoid the side effect the Mangekyou user could kill their sibling and take their Mangekyou eyes to obtain “Eternal” Mangekyou. This version of the Mangekyou would never lead to blindness. With this in mind, Itachi’s view of his clan and their power began to change.

Over the next few years the duo would continue to help Akatsuki accomplish their goals. When members Deidara and Sasori captured Gaara, Kisame and Itachi volunteered to help delay the ninja who had been trailing them. Itachi once again had the opportunity to fight both Kakashi and Naruto. Itachi revealed some new skills during this battle, including the ability to cast a Genjutsu just by having his target look at his ring finger. Naruto fell victim to the attack but was helped by Sakura and elder Sand ninja Chiyo. The combined skills of Kakashi and Naruto were enough to get the better of Itachi, with Naruto striking him with Odama Rasengan. It was quickly revealed to merely be a sacrificial host body. Itachi himself was miles away acting through the sacrifice in exchange for some small measure of his chakra.

In an instant Itachi stood beside Sasuke and stated he would see how good Sasuke’s vision was. The brothers then began to engage in hand to hand combat. Sasuke moved to use his sword and Itachi used his kunai in defense. Sasuke formed Chidori and maneuvered Itachi into the air, where he pierced him with his sword. Sasuke pinned Itachi to the ground and offered than when the battle was through, he would ask a question. Itachi merely pointed to the figure reclining in the throne, Itachi himself. The Genjutsu disappeared and Itachi stated Sasuke could go ahead and ask now. Suddenly a blade pierced through the throne’s back, revealing Sasuke had used a Genjutsu as well. Sasuke then asked who the third Mangekyou user was. Itachi revealed it was Uchiha Madara, but Sasuke did believe it. Itachi explained to his brother that people live their lives based on their definitions of reality, like the way Sasuke believed Itachi cared for his younger brother.

Sasuke then launched wave after wave of shuriken which Itachi reflected in turn with his own. The two brothers then drew blades and exchanged attacks. Sasuke followed by hurling a giant shuriken which cut through one of Itachi’s clones. The clone dispersed into crows which blocked Itachi’s quick movement to pin Sasuke to the wall. A helpless Sasuke then cried out as Itachi removed his eye. Sasuke then used his cursed seal to generate a wing and knock Itachi back. Itachi offered that their power difference was too great and then restrained Sasuke again and moved to take his other eye. Reality then broke down revealing Itachi had used Tsukuyomi. Sasuke collapsed but Itachi grabbed at his left eye, revealing it was Sasuke himself who broke the powerful Genjutsu, causing it to backfire against Itachi. Itachi said he would make that dream of taking Sasuke’s eyes a reality, and he would do it with Amaterasu.

The Hyuuga clan were one of the founding noble families of Leaf village. The clan itself is said to be the ancestors of the Uchiha clan who possess the bloodline of the Sharingan eye. Each clan member possess the “Byakugan” or “White Eye.” When the “Byakugan” is activated, the clan member gains an extra-sensory perception, which gives them penetrating sight and telescopic vision. This allows them to see the internal chakra circulation system in other beings. This vision also grants the member a near 360° view of their surroundings. The higher the skill of the clan member, the further the distance from which they can sense incoming attacks. Unfortunately the vision does have a weakness, a small blindspot that extends outwards from their upper back.

The clan uses this ability in conjunction with their own chakra creating the Juuken (gentle fist) fighting style. By focusing the chakra to their finger tips, they can press the tenketsu or chakra pressure points of their opponents body. When the finger nears the tenketsu the chakra is forced out, collasping the targetted tenketsu for a period of time. The tenketsu serve as the connectors and exit points for the chakra pathways. So when they are stopped by the Hyuuga clan member, the ninja greatly loses his or her ability to utilize their chakra for jutsu.

• These great powers lead to internal strife within the family. Because the eye grants such a unique and powerful ability, the clan became possessive and over-protective of it. Seeing only the main family as worthy users and inheritors of the eye, the heads of the clan began to place restrictions on those branch family members not in power. What resulted were two Hyuuga lines, the powerful main family who would represent the line, and the branch family who were directed to protect the main family and bear the cursed seal.

  The cursed seal is placed on the foreheads of branch family members. It serves as a means to protect the secrets of the Hyuuga Byakugan eye. If the branch family member was to ever betray the main family or be killed in battle, the seal would be activated to destroy the body’s secrets. Thus forcing the branch family to further bow to the will of the main family.

• The normal eye for a Hyuuga clan member differs from a normal human eye. The iris and pupil are barely discernable with both appearing a milky white in color. The pupil itself is larger than a typical humans and it is outlined by a black region. The sclera remains normal except the larger size of the pupil reduces ones ability to view it.
• Once the eye is fully activated, the hidden iris becomes more apparent. Also when providing blood and chakra for the eyes’ bloodline vision, veins will bulge lateral to each eye.
  
• Wearer: Hyuuga Branch Family

  This seal is attached to the members of the Hyuuga Branch Family. It is placed on the family member at birth to ensure the secrets of the Byakugan do not fall into enemy hands. It also ensures the Branch member follows the orders of the Main House. When the seal is placed on the Branch members forehead, their mind can be destroyed by a hand seal known only by the Main family.

  Please note: This is a variation on what is commonly known as a swastika, which had its origins several thousand years before the Nazi came to power. It was usually known as a symbol of good luck and protection. This variation is probably meant to be the Buddhist symbol for Buddha’s heart and mind.

  This seal is attached to the members of the Hyuuga Branch Family. Is is placed on the family member at birth to ensure the secrets of the Byakugan do not fall into enemy hands. It also ensures the Branch member follows the orders of the Main House. When the seal is placed on the Branch members forehead, their mind can be destroyed by a hand seal known only by the Main family.

  Please note: This version is found in the anime. The animators tried to get around the Nazi swastika connotation by altering the inner portion of the symbol.
  

• Hakke Hasangeki is a Taijutsu technique utilized by Hyuuga Neji. Extending chakra from his body, Neji will thrust his palm into his target. This will send out a wave of chakra that will knock his opponent backwards into nearby rock to cause further damage. It is unknown if this wave can also collapse his target’s tenketsu points.
  
• Hakke Kuushou is a ranged Taijutsu technique utilized by Hyuuga Neji. Extending chakra from his body, Neji will thrust his palm at his target. This will send out an invisible wave of chakra that can knock his opponent back. It is unknown if this wave can also collapse his target’s tenketsu points.

• Hakke Rokujuuyonshou is a Taijutsu technique unique to the Hyuuga bloodline. Hakke Rokujuuyonshou is a special technique passed down through the main family line. When an opponent is within the clan members divination field of attack, they can quickly begin their assault. The technique allows the clan member to use the Byakugan eye to see the inner chakra coils system. Using the Jyuuken style, they can force their chakra through their hands into the tenketsu of the opponent’s body through 126 strikes. First the clan member will strike 2 times, then 4, 8, 16, 32 and finally 64. This damage forceably closes 64 tenketsu, stopping the chakra flow of the opponent. This then limits their opponents ability to use jutsu.
  
• Hakke Hyakunijuuhachishou is a Taijutsu technique unique to the Hyuuga bloodline. Hakke Hyakunijuuhachishou is a variation of Hakke Rokujuuyonshou, a technique passed down through the main family line. When an opponent is within the clan members divination field of attack, they can quickly begin their assault. The technique allows the clan member to use the Byakugan eye to make nearly double the normal 126 strikes, striking 254 times against their individual foe or opponents. First the clan member will strike 2 times, then 4, 8, 16, 32, 64 and finally 128 times.
  
• Hakkeshou Kaiten is a Taijutsu technique unique to the Hyuuga bloodline using the Jyuuken. Kaiten is a special technique passed down through the main family line. Kaiten takes advantage of several of the unique abilities of the Byakugan eye. Byakugan gives the clan member an almost complete 360 degree view of their surroundings. This allows the member to see all angles of attack.

  If an attack is near, the clan member will release a large of amount of chakra from their tenketsu. The member then begins to spin like a top, creating a whirling vortex that can nullify almost any attack.
  

• Shugo Hakke Rokujuuyonshou is a Taijutsu technique developed by Hyuuga Hinata. During the period after the Chuunin Exam, Hinata pushed herself harder than ever before. During this time she improved her chakra control and developed her own style within the Hyuuga bloodline abilities. She practiced the technique around water to hone it to perfection. Utilizing the Hakke Rokujuuyonshou style, Hinata uses her natural flexibility and her precise chakra control to create an absolute defense.

  Hinata will emit chakra from her palms and move her arms in sweeping pattern movements to provide a full 360 degree range of protection for her body. This chakra will be also be able to cut through most any target which dares penetrate the protective sphere. By expelling a more sharper, stronger and more flexible amount of chakra, she can increase it’s effectiveness against more massive incoming objects.

These five individuals are called the “Five Kage,” they are Watershadow (Mizukage), Fireshadow (Hokage), Windshadow (Kazekage) , Earthshadow (Tsuchikage) and Lightningshadow (Raikage). • One of the founders of Leaf, Senju Hashirama helped establish the ideal of all the Hokage who followed. The Hokage serves as the foundation which Leaf village sits. The Hokage would love his village and do all in his power to protect it, even giving his life in the line of duty to ensure its survival.
  
• Senju Tobirama also helped in the founding of Leaf, he was the younger brother of Hashirama. Like the First Hokage, Tobirama helped establish the principle that the Hokage will die for those people precious to them.
  
• The Third Hokage became Hokage at a very young age. Sarutobi Hizuren was known as the Professor, a ninja with extraordinary skill and knowledge of jutsu. He would later pass on his knowledge to his students Jiraiya, Tsunade and Orochimaru. Jiraiya would then in turn pass on his knowledge to Namikaze Minato, who would become the Fourth Hokage. After the Fourth Hokage’s death, the Third came out of retirement to lead his village again.
  
• The Third Hokage first wanted Orochimaru to succeed him, but his evil ways caused Hizuren to choose Namikaze Minato instead. The Fourth Hokage was faced with a difficult challenge not long after being appointed. One of the great demons, the Kyuubi fox attacked his village. Many ninja died and the Fourth had to give his life to beat the Kyuubi and imprison him in his newborn son. His death caused the Third Hokage to come out of retirement and act as Hokage once again.
  
• Though Tsunade was the granddaughter of the First Hokage and a student of the Third Hokage, she was reluctant to become the Fifth Hokage. Her boyfriend and little brother both had dreams of becoming Hokage and died while trying to further that goal. When she met Uzumaki Naruto she thought that he was also going down a foolish path, but his hard work and determination inspired her to think that becoming Hokage was a worthwhile thing.
  
• Shodai Kazekage helped found Hidden Sand and went on to become its kage.
  
• Nidaime Kazekage served as the kage of Hidden Sand.
  
• The Third Kazekage was said to be the most gifted kage in Hidden Sand’s history with his ability to manipulate Iron Sand. He disappeared under mysterious circumstances right before war broke out. Years later it was revealed he was killed by expert puppet maker Sasori and turned into his most prized puppet.
  
• The Fouth Kazekage replaced his predecessor who disappeared under myserious circumstances. He was the father of Gaara, Temari and Kankurou and he ordered the Shukaku demon be implanted into his unborn son Gaara. After falling in battle to Orochimaru, a new Kazekage was appointed to replace him.
  
• After Naruto and Jiraiya left for 2 1/2 years to train, Gaara was appointed as Fifth Kazekage of Hidden Sand. The village council appointed Gaara on the notion he was now more in control of his homicidal tendencies.
  
• The Mizukage is the leader of Hidden Mist Village. It is unknown how many Mizukage there have been. When Tobi revealed his true identity as Madara to Kisame, Hoshigaki Kisame identified him as the Mizukage. Momochi Zabuza fled Hidden Mist after a failed assassination of the Mizukage. It is unknown if this was Madara, or some other Mizukage.
  
• The Raikage is the leader of Hidden Cloud Village. It is unknown how many Raikage there have been. The Raikage sought to obtain the Byakugan from Konoha, and dispatched a team to kidnap Hyuuga Hinata. The current Raikage is the brother of Killer Bee, the Eight-Tails Jinchuuriki. After his brother was captured by Akatsuki, he sought a meeting of the Five Kages to discuss dealing with Akatsuki.
  

The following ninja act as their village leader. Note they are not Kages. Only the head ninja from the Five Great Shinobi Countries may use the title of “Kage”. The individuals thus operate under their real name only.

• Akahoshi replaced the Third “Hoshikage” after his sudden death. The position of “Kage” within Hidden Star has not been recognized by the Five Great Shinobi Nations. Most in the village believe the usage of the chakra enhancing meteor will make the village powerful enough to be on equal footing with the other five nations. With the death of Akahoshi and the destruction of the meteor, the use of “Kage” will probably end. It is currently unknown who is leading the village.
  
• Hanzou acted as the leader of Hidden Rain for a number of years. When civil war broke out, the rebel leader Pain killed Hanzou and took control of the country.
  
• After having his brother the Daimyou of the Snow Country killed, Dotou formed Hidden Snow and sought enough power to defeat the Five Great Shinobi Countries. He was eventually killed and Hidden Snow’s future is unclear.
  
• Forced to flee Hidden Leaf because of his forbidden experiments, Orochimaru went north and gathered many despondent ninja and clans. With his identity hidden, he formed Hidden Sound and set out to destroy Konoha once and for all.
  
• This man served as the head of Hidden Waterfall in the past. When Waterfall came under foreign attack, he ingested the village’s Hero water. Unfortunately he wasn’t young enough to survive the effects of the water and he passed away shortly afterwards. His son Shibuki took over as Hidden Waterfall leader after his passing.
  
• After his father died, Shibuki took control of Hidden Waterfall. Shibuki was unprepared for the role early on, but eventually he accepted his position and strove to do all he could to protect his village.

The Naruto Rendan is a Ninjutsu technique developed by Uzumaki Naruto after he saw Uchiha Sasuke’s Shishi Rendan technique. To begin the technique Naruto first creates four Kage Bunshin clones. After Naruto and his clones surround his target, they begin to charge at the opponent. Next one clone punches the opponent and Naruto himself jumps off this clone’s back into the air. The three remaining clones slide in and kick the opponent into the air. Naruto, who gained altitude from jumping, comes spinning down and kicks the opponent in the head, making them smash into the ground.

Ukojizai no Jutsu is a Ninjutsu technique which allows Pain to blanket a wide area with a downpour of rain. He can maintain a connection to the rain and tell when someone is obstructing it. This also allows him to detect the individual’s chakra level and skill.

• Utsusemi no Jutsu is a Ninjutsu technique used by Jigumo. Forming the needed handseals, Jigumo will project his voice to different area to hide his location and the number of allies at his side.
  
• The Nisen Rendan is a Ninjutsu technique utilized by Uzumaki Naruto. After using Tajuu Kage Bunshin to create an enormous amount of clones, Naruto will begin his normal Rendan combo, knocking his opponent into the air. Then the huge number of clones will come raining down, striking his target over 2,000 times.
  
• Yamata no Orochi is a Ninjutsu technique utilized by Legendary Sannin member Orochimaru. With the experimentation on his body, Orochimaru was able to temporarily free his soul from the needs of a host. In this form he can use his chakra to generate a gigantic, eight-headed white snake. Due to its large size, the snake can cause massive destruction. Orochimaru himself can appear within the mouth of one of these heads and use his legendary Kusanagi blade to attack.
  
• Ninpou: Kuchiyose • Yatai Kuzushi no Jutsu is a Ninjutsu summoning technique utilized by the Sannin Jiraiya. Using the size of the summon to his advantage, Jiraiya summons a gigantic toad on top of his target, totally crushing them.
  
• Doton • Yomi Numa is a Ninjutsu technique used by the Sannin Jiraiya utilizing the Earth element. After forming the needed handseals, a vast swamp can appear beneath his target to sink and kill it.
  
• Youji spitting is a Ninjutsu technique utilized by the Leaf Jounin Genma. Though the toothpick looks like it might be a quirk of Genma’s, it actually functions as a weapon in battle. Similar to a senbon, Genma can spit the toothpick at his opponents to injure them. He can also spit it at incoming projectiles to knock them away.
  
• Zankuuha is a Ninjutsu technique utilized by the Sound ninja Zaku Abumi. Using the air vents installed in his arms, Zaku can control supersonic waves and air pressure. The Zankuuha creates a massive gust of wind which he can blast at an opponent. The gust is so strong it can even break rock.
  
• Zankyokukuuha is a Ninjutsu technique utilized by the Sound ninja Zaku Abumi. This technique is a variation of the Zankuuhaa. Like the Zankuuha, Zaku creates a large gust of air pressure from the vents in his arms. This technique is the ultimate version of the lesser technique, it creates a massive gust of wind capable of totally wiping out his target and the surrounding area.
  
• Zessenbaku is a Ninjutsu technique used by the Toad Sage Shima. After focusing Senjutsu chakra to her snaking tongue, Shima will extend it to seek out hidden foes. This tongue can then emit a chemical to mark and subdue the hidden attacker.
  
• Zessenzan is a Ninjutsu technique used by the Toad Sage Fukasaku. After focusing Senjutsu chakra to his snaking tongue, Fukasaku will extend it towards his opponent. Because of the natural chakra built up in his tongue, it will become superfast and sharp. The tongue can then easily cut through most foes.
  
• This unnamed Ninjutsu technique allows Zetsu to spy on an enemy from afar. It is unclear if Zetsu uses his corporeal body or some plant created extension to spy on his targets. Either way, the Zetsu can emerge himself from plant life and extend some form of sensory perception over great distances to gain heightened sight and auditory powers. Using his greatest range he spied upon Team Gai from approximately 100 meters away. Even at this distance he could gather information as if he was right by them.
  
• Zetsushi Nensan is a Ninjutsu technique utilized by the slug summon Katsuyu. This technique allows Katsuyu to expel a sticky burning acid.
  
• Zoufuku Kuchiyose no Jutsu is a Ninjutsu technique used by Pain with his giant multi-headed canine summon. Upon being struck by a direct attack, the canine can divide into another identical beast and increase its power. The beast can then recombine if needed, with one body carrying the heads of however many additional beasts were created.
  
• Katon • Zukokku is a Ninjutsu technique used by Kakuzu. After releasing the Fire elemental from his body, Kakuzu will command the entity to release a large flaming mass from its mouth. This mass will quickly spread along the ground and race towards its target, burning anything in its path.
  

Tajuu Kage Bunshin no Jutsu is an advanced variation of the Kage Bunshin Ninjutsu technique which was banned by the First Hokage. This has not stopped many Jounin-level ninja from learning the technique however. Instead of creating several clones, several hundred clones are created. Like normal Kage Bunshin a ninja’s chakra is split evenly among the clones when created.

The clones themself can utilize any jutsu the original ninja knows. When the clones finally disperse, any new knowledge they have gained is passed back to the original ninja and to any additional clones. This makes Tajuu Kage Bunshin an excellent training method if the ninja has the chakra capacity and stamina to maintain the Kage Bunshins for an extended period of time. This allows the ninja to essentially reduce the time it takes to train and learn with each clone added. With the great number of clones in Tajuu Kage Bunshin, the ninja can effectively learn in a few weeks with a hundred clones what would take one ninja numerous years.

Suiton • Taihoudan is a Ninjutsu technique utilizing the Water Elements. Amachi will generate water in his mouth and spit it as a stream at his target.

Suiton • Takitsubo no Jutsu is a Ninjutsu technique utilizing the Water Element. The ninja will do the necessary hand seals to create a large volume of water. Yamato used this technique in conjunction with Earth Style Doryuu Jouheki. This allowed him to form a large waterfall.

Tanukineiri no Jutsu is a Ninjutsu technique that allows Gaara to take full advantage of incarnation of sand. After being possessed by the Shukaku spirit, Gaara loses control of his body and personality to the demon when he sleeps. Normally as the medium, Gaara does not sleep to try and retain control over himself and the spirit. This limits the true power of Shukaku. However, if he wishes to allow Shukaku to emerge and obtain full control, he can use this technique to place himself into a temporary sleep. To end the sleep, a strong knock to the medium will wake them and end the control of the spirit.
Fuuton • Tatsu no Ooshigoto is a Ninjutsu technique utilizing the Wind Element. Temari will swing her fan into the air, causing the sky to grow dark and stormy. These clouds will create a cutting tornado that will drop down on top of her target.

Suiton • Teppoudama is a Ninjutsu technique utilizing the Water Element. After forming the necessary hand seals, Gamabunta manifests a large amount of water in his mouth which he can then spit at his opponent as a large spherical projectile.

Kuchiyose • Tobidougu is a Ninjutsu summoning technique utilized by the Leaf ninja TenTen. TenTen specializes in throwing projectile weapons. To enable her to carry more weapons, she will store them in a summoning scroll. When needed she can unwrap the scroll and summon whatever weapon she needs.

Toomegane no Jutsu is a Ninjutsu technique utilized by the Third Hokage. Using a crystal ball, the Hokage is able to view events transpiring around Leaf Village.

Tornado Lightning is a technique which uses the power of the Gelel stone to harness lightning. Using some form of handseals, Ranke can generate lightning from her palms which she can whip around to destroy her surroundings.

Fuuma Ninpou: Tsubako Mandara is a secret technique unique to the Fuuma Clan which only certain generations have been able to use. After forming the needed handseals, the clan member will form a triangle handseal and shoot a 3D pyramid of chakra to surround and encase his target. Holding the triangle seal, the clan member can draw their hands together to cause the walls of the jail pyramid to collapse inwards and crush his opponent to an infinitesimal size.

The prison is said to be unbreakable, unless the clan member removes the spell and ends the jutsu. However, if another manages to disrupt the triangle seal it will cause the hold of the pyramid to weaken and allow the trapped ninja to break free if a sufficent enough force is exerted. The resulting break will release a huge explosion of energy which can level much of the surrounding area.

Hyouton • Tsubame Fubuki is a Ninjutsu technique utilizing the Ice Element. Fubuki will create ice swallows which she can launch at her opponent. As they fly through the air, these deadly birds can hone in on their target. A sufficiently hot enough counter can melt the ice swallows.

Note that the manga establishes Hyouton as a bloodline limit ability unique to Haku’s family. This means this technique conflicts with established canon concerning who can do Ice Element techniques
Doton • Tsuchi Kairou is a Ninjutsu technique utilizing the Earth Element. To utilize this technique, Gitai will first be under the influence of Yomi’s evil medically enhanced chakra. This will grant him Earth chakra. After slamming his fists to the ground, the earth will rise up and over his target, imprisoning them.

This unnamed Ninjutsu technique is used by Tsunade in conjunction with her slug summon Katsuyu. After Katsuyu is summoned, she will break down into smaller clones. Tsunade will sit in the center of a transmission seal which will allow her to disperse her healing chakra to the clone slugs. After the slugs come into contact with those hurt, the healing chakra will flow from their bodies to the injured. Because Tsunade is vulnerable in this state, she must be protected during times of battle.

Ninpou: Kuchiyose • Doton • Tsuiga no Jutsu is a Ninjutsu technique used by Hatake Kakashi utilizing the Earth element. Kakashi will withdraw the tracking scroll from the pouch on his vest and wipe the blood of the one he wants tracked on it. After forming the needed handseals, he will slam the scroll onto the ground. This will release his nin dogs into the earth to follow their excellent sense of smell to track the targets blood. This allows Kakashi to track his short range target, even when he can not see them. This technique can also be used to set up his Raikiri. After finding their target the dogs will emerge from the ground to bite and pin down their target. This can allow Kakashi to execute the Raikiri without fear of a counter attack.

Susanoo, named for the God of the Sea and Storms, is a technique which uses the Mangekyou form of the Sharingan eye to create a sword wielding spectral form which will surround the user. This jutsu is generated by both Mangekyou eyes. Susanoo will first form around the user as a skeleton. This skeletal form will then generate muscle and armor for battle and wield both a sword and shield.

The sword is formed out of the sake in the gourd it holds, meaning the sword has no true physical form. This legendary weapon, known as Totsuka’s Sword and the Sakegari (Sake Cutting) Long Sword, utilizes the main ability of the jutsu. Anyone or anything cut by the blade will be sealed away into a Genjutsu of blissful oblivion until the end of time. It is said the sword is thus the ultimate counter to Orochimaru’s Kusanagi Sword. The shield is known as Yata’s Mirror. It is said this shield can defend against any attack. Together the sword and shield will make the Susanoo user nearly invincible. Like other Mangekyou techniques, usage of Susanoo will damages the eyes and health of the user.

Suzu no Oto is a Ninjutsu technique utilized by Sound kunoichi Kin. Kin will hurl senbon which have bells attached with string. This string will also run from the senbon itself to her hand. After she hurls the senbon at her opponent, the dangling bells can be moved by Kin to emit a ring at a special frequency. This frequency reaches directly into her opponents brain and shows them the desired illusions. Unfortunately simple ear plugging will not prevent the illusions. One way this can be utilized is to confuse her opponent. By making her opponent see multiple copies of herself, she can confuse them as to her actual location. This is especially deadly when senbon or kunai are thrown, making it difficult to tell which weapon to avoid.

Suiton • Suigadan is a Ninjutsu technique utilizing the Water Element. The ninja does a string of hand seals to cause a nearby body of water to form a spinning drill.

Suiton • Suijinheki is a Ninjutsu technique utilizing the Water Element. The ninja will first do a string of hand seals and then proceed to blow out a jet of water from their mouth to act as a water barrier from incoming attack.

Suika no Jutsu is a secret Ninjutsu technique used by Mist ninja Suigetsu. This jutsu allows Suigetsu to totally transform his body into water. Maintaining this form requires that he keep constantly hydrated. In this form he can also draw upon and control nearby water by immersing himself amongst the liquid.

Suiton • Suikoudan no Jutsu is a Ninjutsu technique utilizing the Water Element. The ninja does a string of hand seals which then causes a column of water to rise from the water and then strike their target.

Suirou no Jutsu is a Ninjutsu technique that utilizes water to imprison an opponent. The ninja forms the necessary hand seals which causes the water to form around the target into a spherical prison which only allows for limited movement. The ninja must keep their body touching the water prison to maintain its existence. If the contact is broken, the water falls away and their target is released. When combined with a bunshin technique, the ninja can imprison their target but still allow for a clone to attack others nearby.

Suiton • Suiryuuben is a Ninjutsu technique utilizing the Water Element. To utilize this technique, Shizuku will first be under the influence of Yomi’s evil medically enhanced chakra. This will grant him Water chakra, which he will use to generate a whirling sphere of water. This sphere can then emit whips of water, which can seek out and impale his target.

Suiton • Suiryuudan no Jutsu is a Ninjutsu technique utilizing the Water Element. The ninja does a long string of hand seals which then causes a column of water in the form of a dragon to rise from the water and then strike their target.

Suiton • Suishouha is a Ninjutsu technique utilizing the Water Element. Nidaime Hokage does a string of hand seals which then causes a large volume of water to materialize out of nowhere. The water can then be directed at his target.

Suiton • Suishuu Gorugon is a Ninjutsu technique utilizing the Water Element. To utilize this technique, Shizuku will first be under the influence of Yomi’s evil medically enhanced chakra. This will grant him Water chakra, which he will use to generate a mass of water. This can then be sent towards his target as a biting serpent.

Suiton • Suitenhoufutsu is a Ninjutsu technique utilizing the Water Element. The ninja first does a string of hand seals, which causes water to rise from the ground and surround the target. Ruiga can then use this water to drown his target or as a medium to call forth his fish summons. Because Ruiga uses groundwater to create the jutsu, if he is in a rocky area, he will have difficulty utilizing this technique.

Sumi Bunshin no Jutsu is a Ninjutsu technique that utilizes ink to create a Bunshin clone. If the Sumi Bunshin is injured, the clone will usually revert back into its natural ink state.

Sumi Gasumi no Jutsu is a Ninjutsu technique that utilizes ink to hide an escape. After forming the needed hand seal, ink will surround the ninja to hide the movement of their ultra fast escape.

Fuuton • Sunabokori is a Ninjutsu technique utilizing the Wind Element. After generating Wind within her lungs, Shima will use the additional power of natural energy to emit a large cloud of blinding dust.

Suna Bunshin is a Ninjutsu technique utilized by the Sand ninja Gaara. The clone functions like a normal Bunshin, except it is made out of sand. The clone itself can be formed out of the Suna no Tate that protects Gaara. When a ninja goes to attack the Bunshin, the malleability of the sand allows the blow to sink into the sand, which can then wrap itself around the limb to constrain the attacker.

Suna no Mayu is a Ninjutsu technique utilized by the Sand ninja Gaara. It serves as one of Gaara’s absolute defenses. After forming the needed hand seals, a sphere of sand will surround his body. This sand cocoon is made as a defensive measure and is also made to allow Gaara to enter into his Shukaku state. Where his body becomes encased in Sand to make him resemble a smaller form of the Shukaku demon. While in the cocoon Gaara will use the Daisan no Me (Third Eye) to view his opponent and the surrounding battlefield.

Suna no Tate is a Ninjutsu technique created by the Shukaku demon imbued into Gaara. The shield that protects Gaara does so under its own will. Since the time Gaara was a baby, the sand incarnation Shukaku has protected Gaara using this shield of sand. When needed, Gaara can also use his own chakra to control the sand to act as a barrier. Because the protection is reliant upon how quickly the Shukaku demon can respond, it is possible a fast enough ninja can bypass the sand and strike Gaara. If the shield fails, Gaara uses his Suna no Yoroi to act as secondary protection from attack.

Suna no Yoroi is a Ninjutsu technique utilized by the Sand ninja Gaara. If Gaara’s Suna no Tate fails, Gaara uses an almost invisible thin layer of sand to cover his body. For the sand to cover Gaara’s body, he has to use his body’s chakra. When covered by the sand Gaara becomes heavier and it is more difficult for his body to maneuver. Though the sand does provide some protection, sufficient strikes will break the armor to expose Gaara’s natural body.

Suna Raishin is a Ninjutsu technique utilized by the Sand ninja Gaara. Gaara will hurl sand into the air which will come down around his target as hard pikes. Electricity will be generated from the pikes to arc towards and attack his opponent.If his opponent utilizes lightning, it appears this technique will neutralize its usage in the target.

The Suna Shigure is a Ninjutsu technique utilized by the Sand ninja Gaara. Using his chakra to control nearby sand, Gaara will levitate small clumps of sand above his opponent. This sand can be used to distract his target while he starts his Sabaku Kyuu technique or to provide further sand for the sand coffin itself.

The Sand Shuriken is a Ninjutsu technique utilized by the Sand ninja Gaara. Using his chakra to control nearby sand, Gaara will hurl disks of sand at his opponent. Spinning through the air the disks are deadly in strength, inflicting large amounts of damage to his target and surrounding objects.

Souzou Saisei is a Ninjutsu technique developed by the Sannin Tsunade. It is said this technique will prevent Tsunade’s falling in battle. Over time Tsunade will concentrate chakra to a spot on her forehead that takes the form of a diamond. When she releases the seal on the jutsu, the chakra disperses and stimulates the proteins of her body to increase the speed of cell division and reconstruction of cells. This allows her to recreate all organs and tissues. The technique itself does not regenerate the old cells, rather it hastens the creation of new ones through division. Unfortunately a body’s cells can only split a certain number of times in a lifetime. By speeding up this process Tsunade is shortening her life. She may not die in battle, but she can die by speeding up its natural lifespan.

Another potential side effect of this technique is her body losing its youthful form. After using this jutsu in battle, the effects will show as her body regains it’s natural older form. It is only after rest that she can cause her body to regain its false youth.

Shukaku no Hoko is a Ninjutsu technique said to be Gaara’s Saikou Zettai Kougeki (Supreme Absolute Attack). Gaara collects extremely solid minerals and mixes them into his sand using pressure from his chakra. This creates a very strong and hard Shukaku-like halberd which he can then throw. The strength of the material allows it to penetrate a very strong defense.

Shukaku no Tate is a Ninjutsu technique said to be Gaara’s Saikou Zettai Bougyo (Supreme Absolute Defense). To stop an incoming attack, Gaara will mainfest a small form of the Shukaku demon out of sand. Gaara collects extremely solid minerals from underground and mixes them into his sand using pressure from his chakra. This creates a very strong defensive barrier.

Shunshin no Jutsu is a basic Ninjutsu technique. The ninja will appear and disappear in an instant, allowing them to retreat or attack suddenly. To facilitate the movement the ninja will often use nearby elements such as mist, sand or leaves to mask their appearance or disappearance.

Shuriken Kage Bunshin no Jutsu is a Ninjutsu technique that uses Kage Bunshin to create multiple physical clone copies from one thrown shuriken.

Souen • Hitomi Kokuu is a Ninjutsu technique used by puppet master Chiyo. After attaching her puppetry strings to Sakura, Chiyo was able to combine her expert manipulation with Sakura’s power and cunning. This combination benefitted both combatants. It allows the puppet master access to a puppet bearing unique skills, like Sakura’s strength and allowed Sakura to move more intelligently and skillfully in battle.

Soushuriken no Jutsu is a Ninjutsu technique used Uchiha Sasuke. After hurling his giant shuriken, Sasuke can control their path and movements by using wires which run from the shuriken itself back to his arm. Because his opponent will think they are normal shuriken, they will be off guard about their ability to redirect themselves.

Sougu • Tensasai is a Ninjutsu technique developed by the Leaf ninja Tenten. Tenten uses this summoning technique to take advantage of her deadly accurate ability to throw edged weapons. After hurling her large scroll over her opponent, she will summon the weapons inside to rain down on them. Because of the large number of weapons, avoiding the assault is difficult.

Souja Sousai no Jutsu is a ninjutsu technique which had been forbidden because of its dark nature. The technique involves the user forming a special hand seal with their target, this allows them to then kill themself and their target at the same time. This technique is usually used as a last resort, when the ninja absolutely needs to kill their target at all costs.

Hyouton • Souryuu Boufuusetsu is a Ninjutsu technique utilizing the Ice Element. After forming the needed handseals, Dotou will thrust his arms to send out twin black ether-like dragons to strike his opponent. As they flies through the air they will begin to turn, creating a large dark tornado.

Sousai no Ne is a Ninjutsu technique used by Rice Country ninja Menma. When Menma plays his flute, he is able to counteract his clan’s musical Genjutsu and free anyone under its spell.

Soushouryuu is a Ninjutsu technique developed by the Leaf ninja Tenten. Tenten uses this summoning technique to take advantage of her deadly accurate ability to throw edged weapons. Tenten generally only uses this technique as her trump card. To begin, she will will remove her two scrolls and set them on the ground, after forming the necessary hand seals, the two scroll rise into the air and begin to swirl around a middle vortex. Tenten then uses this space to launch herself into the air between the spinning scrolls. From these scrolls she can then summon her weapons which she then begins to throw at her opponent. If the first barrage fails, she can use wires that run from each weapon to her fingertips to pull them back into the air to strike at her opponent again. Unfortunately this attack is very vulnerable to wind based attacks.

Soushuuha is a Ninjutsu technique used by Sand ninja Yashamaru. This technique allows Yashamaru to hover multiple kunai in the air while he approaches a target. The technique allows a ninja to unleash a torrent of kunai much more quickly than if each was thrown individually.
